I realise there is a good chance this has been answered previously but I can't seem to find anything relevant.

My non-EU B permit has been issued by Basel-Landschaft, am I limited to registering at a Gemeinde within Basel-Landschaft or can I also register within Basel-Stadt?

Trying to find accommodation and it obviously has a direct impact.

Yes you are. But you can apply for a change of canton to Basel Stadt, it'll likely be granted.

You likely need the permission of both Cantons. I did when I left Geneva for Vaud.

I would imagine so, as its effectively a change in canton permit numbers, I wasn't sure if the half-canton status of BL / BS makes a big difference. When I find out I'll update here.

That’s good to know. How’s long is the process? Is it doable? I might do that in the near future.

cantonal quote is against cantons .

keep in miind you pay taxes to canton where you live (not where you work actually) and for canton B-permit == income , so they would not want that to go to some other place when they issue their (limited via quote) permit.

All that is true, that’s why you have to ask. Particularly the Canton you are leaving.

Just wondering, if you got any updates from the authorities on this matter. I am a non EU B permit holder. My permit was issued in Basel-Stadt. But I am planning to live in Basel-Land. I need to figure out if this is straight forward or Do I have to apply for a new permit to live in BL.
