Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

Hi,
I searched in the forum but could not find relevant answers.

we are now preparing for the Grundkentnisse test for the naturalisation and the exam is scheduled in July in Dubendorf. we were given a printed material by our local gemainde which should be used for preparing for the exam. The material is easy to follow and has a lot of important information which we have been reading for some time now.

however, when we started taking sample tests on an appl called 'Burger CH', several questions cover the topic that is not in the material provided by the Gemainde. does any one know if there is a single information source that covers the material needed for the exam?

as some might know, in Zurich canton, the exam is divided on topics about Bund, cantons and gemainde. the topics (in the material given by the gemainde )about Bund and canton are the same and the topics about gemainde differ depending on where you live.
https://www.wbk.ch/wp-content/upload...Cttisellen.pdf
this is what is given to us by our gemainde but we need to prepare for the gemainde questions separately.
has anyone recently taken this exam? and let us know if it is enough to prepare according to the material given by the gemainde? or should we start reading as much as possible that is available on the Internet.

i also heard that there is a recent law which standardized the exam meaning there cannot be questions outside this standard material used for preparing. does anyone know more about this?

cheers

Re: Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

I gave it end of 2019 so not sure if it counts as recent anymore, but the material from Gemeinde was enough (Red book, Kanton material and Gemeinde material)

Also go through the Gemeinde website and organigram, various special local bodies what they do etc

We used an app called Buerger CH, its fun to practice, but covers much more than what was on the test (and mainly the Bund part+ Geography)

Good luck!

Re: Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

I took the exam early 2019 (different Gemeinde)... 100% of the questions in the exam was in the material provided by my Gemeinde. To prepare, I only read the Gemeinde material, that's all. I did not know of this Bürger CH app.

Re: Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

We did the exam in December last year in ZH. We had the red book (can't remember the name!) for Switzerland, separate info on Zürich Kanton, and a brochure on our Gemeinde, Meilen.

The test was divided into three parts and we had to pass each section. Everything in the test came from the information we'd been given. I looked at a couple of apps and someone gave me another book on Switzerland, and they all included additional info.

But I'm glad we just focused on what we'd been officially given, as that was enough to learn, especially all those dates!

Thanks for your feedback.. it is certaily relieving that the exam is from the material from the gemainde. can you please quickly check the link i provided in my original message and confirm that the bund and canton part in that link are same as the ones given to you by your gemainde? that is to ensure that we are reading the richtig material. i was told that this is same for every one in Zurich canton and only the gemainde part differs.

also, can you please confirm that you took the exam at WBK dubendorf?

cheers

Just out of interest, has any third-party done a translation of this document into English at any point in the last couple of years?

Re: Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

Everyone refers to this red book but the material given to us by the gemainde is not in a red book but rather a bunch of printed paper containing the 3 (Bund , Canton and Gemainde) sections to prepare . It would now help us if you can go through the link i provided in my original message and confirm that the red book and the information in the link are the same.

Thanks a ton to everyone responding to this thread.

And don’t forget that the highest point in Switzerland is not the Monte Rosa, it’s the pointe Dufour. And the largest lake wholly in Switzerland is Lac Neuchâtel not the Zurisee or lac lemain. (Genfersee)

I just had a quick look (not keen to relive the whole thing...) and it looks pretty similar. Honestly, if that's what they've given you as the official material I would go with it. You could see if someone has a red book to lend you, or you could ask in your Gemeinde if the test will have additional material in it.

A user has confirmed in the thread that it is similar and i am just looking for some more confirmations so that we can only concentrate on the information provided in that link.

Re: Grundkenntnisse test for Naturalisation

I can also confirm that the material you need is in what they provide you when you apply. I consolidated the three documents into key facts and figures in a Word doc, in German. It's 12 pages long but really helped to focus on what you need to know.

The test isn't hard.
