Does Swiss resident have the same status as citizen abroad?

Hi,

My Swiss resident daughter wants to study at a university in Europe.
Does she have the same status as Swiss citizen in this case?
Thanks!

Probably not. But it may well depend on the country.

For example, I can tell you sure that if she goes to a university in the UK (including Scotland) and is British, then she'll be required to pay home student fees. This was the case even before Brexit, even though Swiss and (non-British) EU nationals then did not have to pay to go to Scottish universities.

Re: Does Swiss resident have the same status as citizen abroad?

As I remember from when it was relevant for our daughter, her student status depended on where she was resident for the two years prior to studying, rather than her nationality; hopefully the failure of the latest swiss/EU talks has not put a spanner in the works
Short answer: yes she should be in the same situation as a swiss citizen.
