Study B permit issue

Dear everyone,
I applied for my study residence permit from my home country and after waiting for several months, I received my approval letter from the canton but 3 months visa was issued by the embassy. I explained to the embassy that my studies last for 3 years and I submitted an application for 3 years permit. They told me I have to apply for a residence permit on arriving in Switzerland for a long extension.
On arriving here, I registered at the gemeinde and applied for the residence permit at the migration office but they issued 1 MONTH RESIDENCE PERMIT (same as the visa validity) instead of 1 year permit.
In this situation, what would you suggest me to do?

Never heard of a 1 month permit. Are you sure it’s not just a document until you get your permit? Have you had your fingerprints taken and a credit card style permit issued? If not, it’s not your permit.

Yes, I received the credit card style permit which expires next month and I arrived here last month. Could this be a mistake. Please what should I do in this situation? Should I go to the gemeinde or the migration office for this?

Never heard of one month's permit either. I'd take it up with your uni first. They should be able to help. You probably only get a permit for one Year (in case you drop out, can't financially support yourself or flunk your exams).

Can you post a picture of your permit, blocking out your personal details?
