I m planning to apply for Swiss citizenship soon.

Having said that, I m also considering changing apartments now from 8003 to 8048. I'm wondering if this would break the requirement of staying 2 years in the same commune or not. So, these are 2 different Kreises but same city Zurich stadt, is that correct?.

from what I understand, it is linked to the Gemeinde.
If you are within a Gemeinde, no issues. Else clock restarts.
The change of PLZ indicates a change so I would reconfirm.
FWIW, I moved 5 kms from earlier Gemeinde and the clock reset......

Yeah it would be a change from Kreis 3 to Kreis 9, but my understanding is that this is still Zurich stadt gemeinde.

Move within city of Zurich is allowed and does not restart the 2 year requirement. Naturalization is handled by the city of Zurich and is no way linked to the Kreis (your heimatort becomes Zurich, not the Kreis). The official requirement is "Sie haben Ihren Wohnsitz seit mindestens 2 Jahren in der Stadt Zürich" https://www.stadt-zuerich.ch/portal/...setzungen.html

You will need to provide Wohnsitzbestätigung from both “Kreises”, so some additional cost.
