I had a partner, but yes, that is done. As far as retirement, I have enough for probably any other country. But Switzerland is one of the wealthiest countries in the western world. But the amount here, as you mentioned, is quite different from other countries where this wouldn't even be a question.
If it was me, I would look for a new adventure. You say your job role is specialised, so maybe find a job in a country where age isnít such a restriction. My dad for example is almost 70 but still in demand for his knowledge in his industry in the U.K.

Or maybe retire in a cheaper country, where you can enjoy a better lifestyle than you could afford here.

Look at it as an opportunity for adventure!

Re: C Permit Denial Question

Apologies if I sounded like a downer, but as I mentioned, everything said thus far on this thread was not something that sounded very positive in terms of getting permit or C permit. I am always optimistic and came here on a whim too, all I said was in good faith in support of trying to help the OP. Trying to see where there are possibilities for a permit by the authorities; anyhow it was good to hear from the OP that he wants to stay and feels integrated here, that is a plus.

But the reality is that he said he was 70% chance of A2, which is still elementary level of the language, if passed, last I knew. His question was possibilities of getting C, or denial thereof. Last I knew to get the fast track C (after 5 years) it required level B1 oral, which he seems not to have. In addition to proving integration, etc. As far as I know he does not have 10 years for the normal C requirement.

Also as he is turning 65, there is the issue of supporting oneself when one in theory is retired. Yes, one can work after 65 if they have/find a job. But as I understand AVS, you continue to pay in after age 65 but with no change in your pension level. So if OP stays on working to say until 70 or 75, this supporting oneself as a retiree question still remains unless he is able to save a large % of income on the side to live on in retirement. The AVS (pillar 1) pension at 75 will still be the same as at 65, as these 10 years don't count in raising the pension.
