| | Looking for a construction job!
Hi
I'm curious to know, is it hard to find a job in the construction market, I'm talking like: brick laying, painter, floor and tile layer etc.
if you're in Geneva without a permit B.
Is it hard to find companies that hire non eu workers without a permit b in the construction field?
Just curious
Thank you

Could you clarify what you mean 'without a permit B'?
What is your status in Switzerland - do you have any of the various sorts of residence permits?

Basically impossible for them to be able to hire you unless you already have a Swiss residence permit. The criteria for hiring non-EU's is very strict. https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home...gehoerige.html
The sort of work you're looking for simply doesn't fall into that criteria so not possible to get a permit that way.

Nope, none of the residence permits. However, one of my friend's father has been living and working in the construction market in Lausanne for more than 15 years, without any permit. However, he now got a permit, since he didn't have any criminal records, paid all of his taxes regularly as well as he speaks French very well, it seems that they didn't have any other choice since he was contributing to the community without any law breaks or any threats to the society.
That's what made me ask this question in this forum as well. Like how hard it is to find ilegal work in the construction market anyways

And one illegality does not make the other one ok. Yikes.

Well, there's a certainly people out there who make a profit by telling endearing stories about how easy is become rich in Switzerland if you only pay them some "fees" or agree to some "special conditions". So, do not trust anyone, take care! https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home.../kampagne.html | The following 3 users would like to thank Axa for this useful post: | |

Also there are very strict rules concerning accident insurance, health and employment regulations here. If you should ever get a job offered here (which I sincerely doubt), then you can be sure that it is by no reputable or legal firm.

Very hard as a "Jack of all trades"
Most tradesmen here are specialised in one area, brick laying, or painting or tiler

Most tradesmen here are specialised in one area, brick laying, or painting or tiler | | | | | And have completed (and passed) a 3 year apprenticeship in that area e.g
Eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis "Maurer/in EFZ"
Eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis "Maler/in EFZ"
Eidg. Fähigkeitszeugnis “Plattenleger/in EFZ”

Also, I get from reading that, how you could get health insurance without being registered - but health insurance then looks for your AHV number, what then? Also, how would you ever cancel it without a de-registration paper from your gemeinde.
Very confusing.

Very confusing. | | | | | Google "sans papiers" and you can read all about it. It's quite regularised here, i.e. technically illegal, but tolerated. Issue a few years ago was how to treat 'sans papiers' apprentices when they went that route in schooling.

I’m informed that you can also establish a good career here if you’ve done most of your education in the field in another country.

Here the police deliver your work permit to your employer (think they had people faking or altering contracts at one point) to check you do actually work there, and the police have been known to be on the slopes checking the work permits of ski instructors. Not a chance you'd last long without papers.

However One more question you've been very helpful.
the Sans-Papiers, is it for eu people only, or does it counts for non eu as well.
Thank you so much one more time
Kind regards
