Deregistration - L permit

Hello All,

I am a Non EU working in Switzerland from Oct 2008 on an L permit. My current L permit is valid till Oct 2008. The work permit is approved till Dec 2008.

My current assignment is almost over and the plan is to return by Oct. There are chances that I might have to come back early next year for another assignment.

I have heard that if I am de registering without using the complete period for which the WP is approved, then there is a ban for 12 months before which I can apply for a new WP in case I want to come back again. Is this true?
If yes, then is it the validity of the L permit or the WP that matters?

In my case, I will be completing 1 year in Swiss in Oct.

Thanks in advance

Re: Deregistration - L permit

As far as I know , even if you do not de-register and go back to your home country, the L card gets automatically de-registered after a specific period

But there's some process to renew it.

This I know coz my company is doing it for one of my colleague who went back and planning to return to switzerland.

You can contact kreisburo for details I suppose. Will post if I get more info

Re: Deregistration - L permit

Thanks Mangi1974 and Geen.

Also is there an option to live outside Switzerland for say 3 months during the time your WP is valid with out deregistring. Inform the canton that during this time you are not employed in Switzerland and hence no tax should be paid ?

This question is in referance to L permit

If you are on a L permit, you need to reapply when you come back. No possibility to freeze that kind of permit.
