Reporting a Crime in Basel

Which is the best police station to report a crime in Basel?

I know the one on Clarastrasse, but that seems to be mainly for administrative stuff.

Apparently my friend's ex-boyfriend has just kicked my door in (again) and he'll be around to kick me in later

I'm at work now, so I haven't see the damage, but I assume I'll need a police report to claim on the insurance.

Bloody hell i don`t know your story, and i am not in Basel, but can you just not ring the local police station and report the person who as kicked your door in, and tell them he said he will be back later to kick you in.

Re: Reporting a Crime in Basel

Well I'm back home and nothing appears to have happened to the door, and I wasn't ambushed on my way in so I guess it was a bit of exaggeration about a shouting match and door banging.

So no police needed just yet.

Just out of curiosity, is this guy (the door kicker) Swiss?

edit:Ahh, you posted before me. I would not have believed such aggression could exist here.

If you live in Kleinbasel, then this is the correct police station. The General (non-admin stuff) office is on the ground floor on the right as you walk in the main front door. This is where I have gone in the past to report a stolen item.

If you don't live near Kleinbasel, then go to your nearest Police Station, a list of which can be found:

Sorry, "kicking in" is probably UK slang. It means actually breaking open the door, damaging the lock/hinges.

Once I discovered that it was merely kicking the door, no I didn't consider it a crime (although probably it isn't exactly legal).

Hence

Re: Reporting a Crime in Basel

Definitely slang' kicking in' - Aussie as well - same as 'I'll kick your head in!" "give someone a kicking" which usually is taken as a threat of serious violence.

And on that note, please report to the police. ASAP. - they need to have this person on their books in case it escalates...

You definitely need to have the incident recorded at the local authorities. Should anything more sever ever happen, they will have the incident on file and are likely to respond faster if there is a history (I would assume, as I have not had any experience with CH police)

Good Luck!
