Non EU spouse - visa?

Hi all,

I did search for this but cant seem to find the exact situation or answer... sorry

I am an EU (UK) citizen, and my wife is Panamanian. My wife has both UK and Netherlands residence visas in her passport already (if this makes any difference.. i guess not).

I have a job offer for Geneva so my work permit will be sorted by the company as part of the package, however what visa or permit will my wife require? She will not work, only be a stay at home mum!

Many thanks for any advice,

nowthen

If you are married then your wife will be entitled to live in Switzerland with you. You will have to present your marriage certificate to the authorities but everything should be fine. Good luck and enjoy living here!

Your wife will also get a B permit. The fact that she has EU residency does make a difference. It makes the process much easier/quicker.

Re: Non EU spouse - visa?

Hi, I am non-EU national, and currently working in United Kingdom. I am finishing my job in mid-April this year (also my UK visa expires on 15th April). I have a new job in USA starting in May 2010. However, before moving to US in May, I would like to visit my wife in Zurich after my UK visa expires (mid April 2010) till I move to USA (May 2010). She is EU national and working in Zurich.
The important point to consider is that my permission to live in UK expires on 15th of April 2010 and I would like to travel to Switzerland just few days before my permission to stay in the UK expires.
1-Can I apply for 6 month visit visa or EU/EEA residence card in this situation at Swiss Embassy London?

I called Swiss embassy here in London and they say I should apply in my home country as my UK residence visa will be expired. According to them my UK visa should be valid at least 3 months when I travel to Switzerland.
Thanks for your help

Not quite sure what help you are expecting. The Swiss Embassy already answered your question.
