Work Permit for US Citizen

Hi Everyone,
I Hope someone can help me.
I just became a US citizen and I am Algerian. I was offered a position in Lausanne as a center sales manager and I need to go to Paris for a training for a month before get the position in Lausanne. I do speak 5 languages.
What is the steps I should do in order the get a work permit?
Do you think its better to go to Suisse before applying for the W Permit in the US?
Please I need a good feedback.
Thank you

get the company to apply for the permit on your behalf. Will they do this?

And the country is called Switzerland. It's essential to get that right for the permit application

they should contact the local permit office and find out - after all, you would not want to come over only to find that your permit application is denied.

Hi guys,

I know the issue of Suisse and Switzerland has been covered in another thread, but considering ranou is Algerian AND French is probably one of his main languages AND French is one of the main languages of Switzerland and English isn't (though is is here on the forum ) AND after all Suisse is the French name for the country anyway, don't you think he would get further with the Swiss authorities (at least the French ones in Lausanne) by saying Suisse instead of Switzerland? In fact, he wouldn't even be speaking in English with them at all! Just my 2 cents...

I almost made the same comment about Suisse. Better to continually call the country Suisse if you're applying to a Romandie canton than Switzerland.

You cannot presume you will receive a work permit. The company must prove that you are providing them with services and skills that EU and Swiss applicants for the position are unable to -- if I understand the law correctly. I believe that most people on here who are not EU citizens or married to a Swiss citizen were given their residency permits through their place of employment, which is really the only way it can otherwise be done. If your prospective employer is not already applying for your permit, problems will more than likely arise.
