You can apply for a C-Permit, but unless you have been married to a Swiss citizen for the last 5 years, you probably will not get one until another 4 years pass.

Thats right dude. Its 10 years unless you have been married to Swiss for 5 years and lived here solidly for at least the last two. The ease of your right of passage depends on the attitudes of the Canton and community to which you belong. Good luck.

Re: C-permit for an indian citizen

What is the typical C permit processing time for an Indian who had completed 10 years in Zurich?

Does it still have to go to Bern for approval thus taking long time or is it approved by the Kanton and takes much lesser processing time

Thank you.

Re: C-permit for an indian citizen

It took me 3 month, as an non EUR: your canton needs to approve first, then you receive a letter from them saying that the request will be transfered to Bern for approval.

Ella

did it take you 3 months AFTER 10 years on B permit or did you renew it earlier than the assigned period of 10 years?

Thanks

hi i applied after 5 yrs under B.Your situation should be even more straightforward. I believe it will go through Bern anyway since you change the type of your permit.

Thanks. For your nationality is the time required for automatic change to C from B 5 years or 10 years? If it is 10 years and then you choose to try after 5 years, then it might take longer. But if it is 5 years and you do it after 5 years, then I guess it should be straight forward.

So, it is not clear if you did it BEFORE time or ON time?

thanks
