USA Citizen on B Permit - can I live in France We are currently living in Geneva, American family on B-Permit. We are considering a move over the border to France, but have heard mixed messages on whether or not this is possible. May I ask for assistance or to be pointed to a thread on this topic if the discussion has already occured in the forum. My keyword searches have not resulted in any threads . |
Re: USA Citizen on B Permit - can I live in France oddly enough, once I submitted this post a nice list of suggested threads was presented, and I found my answer in one of those. So, please disregard my post. |
Re: USA Citizen on B Permit - can I live in France You can read different threads, but it is best to call the consulat in Geneva to get the correct legal answer: http://www.consulfrance-geneve.org/0...UEIL/index.php |
Re: USA Citizen on B Permit - can I live in France I am in the same position. We have located several places in France that we would like to live and commute to Geneva for work (currently on non-EU B-permit), but the "problem" seems to be with the Swiss authorities, not the French. Can someone please send me the aforementioned links, info? |

Re: USA Citizen on B Permit - can I live in France It's been my understanding that when you live in Switzerland with a B-Permit, that you have to live in the canton where your job/sponsor is. But as always, this may vary by canton. Best bet would be to go to the Fremdenpolizei (don't know the French name for "foreigner police"?), ie: where your B-Permit was issued, and ask them. |
