At the end of the year I noticed that I did not get a renewal form for my permit. It was because when i changed the kreis in the city i didnt notify my new one correctly. I went and explained it to them (new Kreis)....they explained to me the error of my ways and i paid a fine of i think 50 chf as well as the fee for the new credit card permits. However, since then I have not received the card! My old permit expired on January 7th......I was given a provisonal permit. (out of paper)

Should I be worried, especially since I made the (honest) mistake of not reporting my new Kreis in a proper fashion.

Can't see anything to be worried about - the wheels of officialdom sometimes turn slowly.

It took me more than 8 weeks to get my permit renewed. Between getting the letter and the new permit i believe it were over 3 months. Mind you, i have 1 month gap in my permit expiry (one expired on april 2nd, new permit starts in May 1st.). Be patient, if there were anything wrong with it they would have already sent you a registered letter...

As long as you have your provisional approval on paper, the local authorities will not be in a hurry to issue the real permit.

I live in Lausanne, and my original permit took 4 months to arrive, which was an L-permit. My B-permit took 3 months to arrive. My fiance's close to 7 months.

Although, we both had the provisional approvals on papers, so there was no issue, even our relocation company told us told.
