Is a non-EU with Permit B permited to work in Austria?

Hello!

I am Italian living in Switzerland with my brazilian wife, who has a Permit B valid until 2014.

Has she the possibility to work in Austria as well?

What does she need to do to get a Permit in Austria? Only if we move to Austria?

Regards to all!

Re: Is a non-EU with Permit B permited to work in Austria?

I see you are based in Buchs SG, meaning that you probably have found a job right across the border. Austria has actually a very strict law regarding the spouses wife and their permits.

My guess is that even if you move to the other side of the border, your wife might not get the right permit to work. I have met several ladies in the exact same conditions that your wife, that were simply not allow to work or request the permit even. You would be probably better trying to get her to work with that special permit that allows people to work across the border and be back to Switzerland (I just cannot remember the exact word in English or German. The Portuguese one is trans-fronteiricos). I would strongly recommend you to go the Gemeinde and ask them if this is possible to do with a non EU citizen.

A completely different story is if your wife the Italian citizenship.
