Bank Statement for a Swiss visa

Hello All,

I'll be applying for a Swiss visa for study purposes in the coming few weeks. The embassy website said that there should be proof of sufficient financial means to support oneself, which means a bank statement, salary slips etc.

For how long should a bank statement be? past four months? past six months?

I called up the embassy and asked them this, and they told me that they just want to see a proof of financial support, and said that they could no specify the duration of the statement.

Ideally, how many months should it cover? I've seen some countries asking for three, four and six months? What is the norm for Schengen?

Thanks alot!

Re: Bank Statement for a Swiss visa

is there not a minimum amount that has to cover the duration of your stay? xCHF per month

therefore deposit that total amount (for your stay) in an account and send them the statement showing that balance. otherwise you need to show that you will receive whatever the minimum is every month. prove as far back as you can that you regularly receive this money. or get someone you is guaranteeing you financially to show it.

in short: the further you can prove in the past the more likely they are to accept it. i would go with 3--6 months.

Re: Bank Statement for a Swiss visa

Reviving this old thread. I need to submit bank statement for visa purpose. Could anyone please let me know whether an online print out is fine or I need to go to bank and get it from them in some format?

FYI I have the account with Credit suisse.
