Re: the documents needed for baby registration

I'm so confused

My boyfriend has an appointment with the Gemeinde to register our baby as his. We need to do this before the birth so birth certificate etc. is all correct and passport application runs smoother. However, he needs to provide some of my documents to do this namely my UK passport, B permit, birth certificate and my divorce papers (I was previously married in the UK and divorced whilst I was in CH). The strange thing is they have asked for an Affadavit from the consul stating that I have not remarried since then. How on earth do I get that? Which consul are they referring to? How can they ask me for proof that I have not remarried but not ask my partner for these documents?? I am very very confused!! Please help

Re: the documents needed for baby registration

Hi, I have a quick Question?

I'm Swiss, living in NY right now. I have a one year old son. Do you know how much time takes my son's registration process as Swiss citizen. Since the time we deliver all the papers to the consulate? Thanks,

It depends on so many factors it's absolutely impossible to give you any sensible answer

It may be simplier and cheaper to request a new copy of your birth certificate in the international format. The Migrations Amt wasn't able to translate my husband's handwritten birth certificate, so we had to request a new copy at quite late in the pregnancy.
Indeed, in Ireland it’s called the Multilingual Standard Form.
