Steps for Non-EU to get spouse visa (spouse EU, B visa)

Ok, trying again as I'm doing more research and this forum has been great.

Now, I'm a non-EU (US citizen) marrying EU B permit holder (she is Italian) and I am going to Switzerland during Labor Day week. Would like to register marriage at the gemeinde (Dietlikon) where she lives so that I can get spousal visa.

In addition to the Marriage Certificate (which will be from NYC), what other documents do I need to register/get spousal visa?

I will be returning after labor day, to continue on my job for the time being, until I get the spouse B visa. Then I'll quit and move there and such for jobs in pharma.

We have her rental agreement contract and I'll have passport photos.

So that I can take August to grab necesary docs....are there any docs I'm missing? Do I need any translations or apostills?

Thanks for your help!

There is no spouse visa.
There is however a bride visa. Not applicable as you're already married.

You could apply for a entry permit

This is what you would need:
3 completed forms "Schengen VISA" with the future adress of residence
3 copies of your passport
3 copies of your residence permit, if you live in another country then country of origin
3 copies of the passport of your spouse
3 copies of the marriage certificate

This has to be submitted to the Swiss Embassy of country of residence
It will take 1-3 month until it is ready.

This will aloud you to take residence in Switzerland during the next 3 months. You have to register your residence within the first week after arrival.

You don't have to register your marriage in Switzerland, you register your marriage at your and your spouse country of origin, they will then issue the marriage certificate, this one you will show the Swiss Authorities as proof of your relationship.

This said, forget all that. You as US citizen, you don't really need to apply for an entry permit. A simple tourist visa will give you 90 days stay.

With your spouse go to the swiss census office and register.
What you need is your:

- police record
- marriage certificate
- birth certificate
- passport
- valid health insurance (mandatory)

Very simple, straight forward process.

Hope this helps
