Living in Switzerland for three months

Hello,

I have always wanted to live in Switzerland, but i also want to visit the rest of Europe.

From what i have been reading, you are only allowed to stay up to three months in most European countries that are part of the Schengen agreement.

But from what I understand, Switzerland is not part of the agreement, therefore I could stay in Switzerland for three months, then travel in europe for three months, then go back to Switzerland for three months.

Is this correct?

If I wanted to stay longer, and I have income, don't need a job, is it difficult to get a residency visa?

Thank you for your help!
