| | NON-EU - How to get Immigrated or avail WP in CH
I have seen lot of useful information about CH...especially for Permit related queries.
I have a unique question, i hope somebody can easily answer....
I am indian currently living in chennai, i would like to know is there any way to get a Work Permit / Immigration in CH. I am an ITIL Consultant having 6+ yrs experience...I do see lot of vaccancy that exactly suits my profile in different part of switzerland. But when i apply, i dont even get a rejected reply...
As per my experience with this forum, i have got lot of answers...like the procedure for NON-EU. But i still would like to know, will there be any kind of exempt for Indians...to get into CH.

Hi!
I don't know of a "Green Card Program" in Switzerland - I know there was one started in Germany a few years ago for attracting Indian IT professionals, but this has been stopped.
The only way for you to come to CH would be to keep applying for jobs, and on the basis of a job offer, the company will have to initiate your visa process - must warn you this is very difficult, much more so than in other EU countries.
All the best!

Why would there be an exempt for Indians? It's not in the EU, so the same rules apply as per every other non-EU country. |

I am sure there is a lot of information related to Employment opportunities in English forum. There are number of key issues like
- High unemployment (not that high compared to other large countries but is running Multi year high)
- Changes in the immigration policies in Switzerland in last couple of years has made EU professionals migrating to Switzerland very easy but as a result they have tightened the entry of non-Eu professionals a lot
- At the moment there is a general hesitation in the immigration department for issuing new work permit to non EU. We have had similar issues in our company. The Fed office in Bern won't accept even a big reason to hire a non EU-Professional, even Americans and Australians.
- Skill sets are also key. What kind of education and skills you have. For a very generic jobs like a PMI, Database or I would say even ITIL, it doesn't make a very good case.
- Social integration issues like Language etc are also posed a big reason these days. A lot more jobs now a days are advertised in German or asks for German skills. Similar for French in the French speaking region.
There could be other reasons as well. Possibility of getting job through a company which is already doing business here like Accenture or Infosys is more because they have large projects and local office and they can process the work permit though not as easy as they could 12-18 months back. But, for an individual it looks bit difficult.
Having said that like the other person suggested keep trying, I still see some new people coming from India, though far too less and in very specialized areas.

Consider this: when you apply for the job, you're one of, say, 100 applicants. Many are rejected because...... - their skills don't match
- they have too little experience
- the CV just does not impress
- the company would have to go through a process to get a work permit and there is no guarantee of that permit being granted
- any other reason
They are under no obligation to write to each dropped potential candidate. Contact commences when the shortlist has been drawn up.
What can you do? Short-term - marry someone with EU or Swiss passport. Or simply keep plugging away and cross your fingers and toes |

Well, try to look at some European CV's - they are very different from Indian ones.
Include a strong statement of purpose.
Include reference (international if possible)
... And last but not least, learn the language! Knowledge of German/French is often the deciding factor when working for local companies.

Will there be any advantage, if i have been to CH already.
Why i am asking is, I was in Switzerland 6 months back - Where i was working as a contractor in one of the famous company in Vevey through an Indian Firm (I dont want to name the company).
I was staying in switzerland from jan 2007 to jan 09. in L permit in canton of Vaud. Have done all the deregistring formalities on time when i have returned back..
Will it be an added advantage, if i state the same in my CV.
..Which i did too.. |

You are Indian, non-EU, and do not speak German. You have no advantages over any other non-EU citicizen looking for a job.

I am afraid your chances will be very limited in this economic climate. You need to be really highly skilled to have a chance or ask your indian company to send you to switzerland.
