Hi all

I arrived in Lausanne 6 weeks back and had applied for my B Permit right after arrival. I haven't received it yet.

I have to be in Imperial College, London on September 22 for a conference. Checking the British Visa site tells me that 10 days is a safe margin for getting the UK visa.

So that is the situation. I have two options: Wait for the permit to arrive and then go for the UK visa, or PAY and apply for a return Swiss visa and then go for the UK visa immediately. Which would be a more reasonable option?

I failed to mention, I am a student, and would avoid any additional payment, whatsoever.

Since I did not receive any replies, I am reposing my question differently - bear with me.

How long does the processing of a B permit application take? Its already been 6 weeks since I applied. Should I be concerned considering the length of processing time?

Depends on your Canton. In Vaud you can wait three to four months for your B permit to be processed.

Option 2. You have no guarantees with option 1.

The authority do not keep your passport for application of residence permit, why don't you just go ahead to apply for a UK visa?????

I waited for my residence permit for 7 months in Vaud and during that 7 months, I had no problem go in or out Switzerland...
