I am an EU citizin from the UK, I have secured a job working as a one to one special needs teacher in a School in Geneva starting in September, employed privately by an American family soon to move to Geneva. The parents work for UBS, who will pay my wages, but UBS have said they will be unable to provide my work permit as I wont be working for them directly. So... my question is, how an earth do I get a permit????
My partner who I will be living with already has a B permit and job here. Any advice much appreciated.

The way I did it was once I was here I went to the local town hall (not sure of the French term) and registered, two weeks later I had a B permit. As you are an EU citizen it makes life very simple.

Is it that simple? Do I not need the people who want to employ me to fill in any documents then????

Nope, that used to be the way but with the bi-lateral agreements in place now it's all rather simple. If you are non-EU it's a lot more difficult.

I guess you will have to clarify whether either your employers or the school will pay your social contributions, pension plan contributions and accident insurance.

My employer will pay the contribution.... the School pay nothing.

Make sure that a)it appears on the contract b) they actually do it. Both your share and their share of AVS and 2nd pillar (if you qualify).
