Depends on your passport. I don't think a 'student' visa will let you travel freely through Europe...the best place to ask would be the swiss consulate general in the UK...they will tell you what you need to do...

A UK student's visa applies only to the UK. Whether you need a visa to travel to Switzerland or not depends on your home country, not your UK student's visa. However, if you do need a visa, you can apply for a Schengen visa, which will then allow you to travel freely between all the Schengen countries (i.e. you don't need separate visas for each country). The UK is not a Schengen country.

The best is the previous suggestion: contact the Swiss embassy or your home country's travel information website for concrete information. This might help for starters: http://skyteam.com/about/travelhelp/travelinfo.html
