Independent Contractor - Working in Swiss/Living in France

Hi there to all and thank you in advance for any replies.

I tried to find a similar thread but I am afraid I couldn't. Well, my case is rather complicated so I'm not surprised.

I would be an Independent Contractor for an International company and I would be travelling mostly in Switzerland. However, I would prefer to live in France (close to the border) with my French to-be-in-several-months wife.
Now, the company is ready to do the contract either according to the French or the Swiss law.

I am checking the newly introduced by the government of Sarkosy auto-entrepreneur status here in France. It is something like being a self-employed in the UK. Still, it might be better for me to have the independent contractor status in Switzerland - the company is ready to do it according to the Geneva or Zurich law.

Here comes the tricky part - I am a Bulgarian passport holder - new EU, that is. Would anyone be able to give some info on obtaining an Independent Contractor status in Switzerland? Needless to say, my company is going to help.

Thank you in advance.

Re: Independent Contractor - Working in Swiss/Living in France

Hi Danof,

I know this is a very old post now but we're in a similar position with my husband. Are you still around? Did you manage to resolve this?

Is there anyone else with advice about setting up as an independent contractor?

Cheers!

Here are a couple of links re self-employment in Switzerland.

https://www.ch.ch/en/becoming-self-employed/

However, if you're an EU-2 citizen I'm not sure you'd be able to set up here.

"All citizens of EU/EFTA countries - presently still with the exception of Romania and Bulgaria - have the right to live and work freely in Switzerland. They can thus also become self-employed."
