Obtaining B permit timeline

Hello all

I'm new to these forums and have so far found them very helpful.

I'm a French citizen and have just been offered a job at an airline based in Zurich.

I have already received a copy of my contract and will start work on March 1st, 2010.

I am aware that I am able to obtain a permit, although I am unsure as to the exact procedure to follow.

Do I got to Zurich, rent a flat and then go to the authorities to ask for my permit, or am I able to go to the authorities with a copy of my contract without having a fixed address in Zurich?

Thank you

David

Re: Obtaining B permit timeline

Go to the authorities with a copy of your contract and they'll start the process to get your permit made. You will be able to collect your permit from the Gemeindehaus in about a month or two (it depends on their workload).

While your permit is being processed, look for a place to stay. In fact, I would suggest you start looking now. Sometimes the landlord insists you give them a copy of your permit to sign the contract for the place. In this case, you would need to wait till your permit is made.

This is from my Aargau kanton experience, but I guess the process in Zurich is similar.

They didnt ask me for it.
I ve been waiting +-3months now
cost was 100chf which the company paid back

HOWEVER if you dont get healthinsurance within 3 months of application they give it to you, and it is not always the cheapest you find...
