| I'm old and have a bad memory....
That said, I previously had a swiss drivers license and then moved out of the country...the problem is, I can't remember if I was required to turn it in to the Swiss authorities when I left!
I know I never turned it in for another license in another country and I'm hoping that I just "misplaced" it and when I move back to Switzerlan I can request a new one without too much hassel.
Can anyone refresh my memory and is it a requirement for an ex-pat in Switzerland to turn in their drivers license when they trun in the B permit?
Thanks - Marc | |

I do not know the legal background, but it would be very odd to have to turn in your license when leaving the country. In many other countries you need the license from your former country of residence to get their license.
For instance, if I moved to the USA permanently, if I'm not badly mistaken, I could use my Swiss license to drive around for a year (and you know that in the USA you just cannot survive without a car). During that time I would have to get the US license.
In other words, it was your bad memory, not the Swiss authorities....
