Can dependent B permit holder (5 year valid) work as "Independant"?

Dear All,

I hope someone has experience with the below situation and can advice me what to do.

I moved to Geneva with my husband and family. I am an EU citizen and have a 5 year B permit. (Also called CE permit?) The permit says "sans activite lucrative" (i.e. no income). I would like to start working as an "Independant"/free-lance from home. My customers will be non-swiss companies mainly.

1) Do I need to request a new B permit/change my current one?
2) If yes, is that just a formality or is there likely hood that I will not be allowed to work?
3) Can I already start with assignments when the procedure is ongoing?

Your help would be much appreciated!

Yes, you can work!

Go to the Cantonal Office and explain your situation and what you want to do, they will advise you. Chances are you need to just fill in a few forms and have your permit updated.

I am a non EU dependent B-permit holder(spouse of b-permit holder). My permit says 'avec activite'. Can I work as an independent/self employed?

thanks

Usually non-EU citizens require additional permission to become self employed and have to prove the viability of the business - your local town hall should be able to help you with the paperwork.

I checked with service du employment and they said I can work as selfemployed and dont need any other authorisation

As I work some days a week and less than 15 hrs a week ,can I call it an accessorie independant work, and how will it effect our tax situation(married, husband b permit, non eu).
