Re: Kanton Change with B Ausweis

Can anyone point me to the URL page which describes this rule:
" According to the new foreigners law dated 01.01.2008, you are free to change canton of residence and/or employer as you wish (previously you had to get permission from the respective cantons). I did change both on 01.01.2008 and it was really straightforward. I really don't think there is a lot of room for something to go wrong there. Deregistration / registration is only a formality now".

I checked in one of the pages
http://work-in-switzerland.com/archi...-1/#comment-75
which was updated in July 2007, wherein it is mentioned that

"Foreign nationals holding the annual (B) work permit are required to obtain permission to change their job, profession or canton or to change from employment to self-employment"
I believe this could be a old one of 2007 which is not updated.

So I was wondering is there any Swiss Government/cantonal announcement guideline which describes the point mentioned by our friend Baris?

Thanks.

Re: Kanton Change with B Ausweis

Just read the old post on using non-English words excessively on this forum - it should really apply to this thread too.

And where is Waadt? Surely using the German name for a francophone canton is going too far?

Re: Kanton Change with B Ausweis

Hi Swissbob,

Many thanks for providing this URL, this is really helpful.
There is a lot and lot to do in googling

Found the other one here: a question about Non-EU with B permit

I have another question here for which I couldn't yet find a definitive answer (have to google more on it, sorry about it):
Mit Erwerbstätigkeit - does this mean one can work for any employer within Switzerland? irrespective of the cantons and without any further need for approvals from respective cantons? or pre-approval (from new canton of work place) is mandatory before changing the employer?

Please advice.

The new employer must always get approval - it's just they do not need to go through some of the employment restriction hoops.

One more question just popped up to my mind:
Art. 38 Gainful employment:
1 Persons with a short stay permit who are admitted in order to be self-employed or to engage in salaried employment may work as authorised anywhere in Switzerland. A change of job may be approved, if there is good cause and the requirements of Articles 22 and 23 are fulfilled.
2 Persons with a residence permit who are admitted in order to be self-employed or to engage in salaried employment may work anywhere in Switzerland. They require no additional authorisation to change jobs.

- does this hold good even for the closed (company/project bound) B permit holders?
