Dependent Permit: waiting more than 8 months

I have two clarifications to ask in this group, may be some one have some idea.

1. I applied for dependent visa for my wife on 29th Sept. 2009 (about 8 months ago). In end Jan. 2010 Zurich Migrationsamt told me that they need to legalize our marriage certificate and asked to pay an advance CHF 1000/=. After my payment confirmation MA initiated legalization of our marriage certificate. Now the papers are pending at Swiss embassy in Mumbai. I tried to contact to know the status. They always say it is in process. Does some one know any inside about this process and ways to speed it up?

2. As per various different web site, it seems many EU countries have abolished the Legalization of Indian document that have an Apostille stamp from Externals affairs ministry of India. Does any one know if this is valid in Switzerland?

Re: Dependent Permit: waiting more than 8 months

hi boopathy,

I have also applied for the dependent visa for my wife and child ater coming to zurich.

I have done the legalizaion of the certificates in bangalore through an agent and then submitted the application for visa in mumbai.. Then i informed my employer in zurich that my wife has applied for dependent visa in mumbai

They gave me a permit copy which takes about 2 months time.. I have then send the scanned copy of this permit to the visa agent in bangalore. The visa was given in one week from the embassy in mumbai. This is how I have done.

I think you have to inform your employer about this who will help you to get the permit letter for your wife.

Write back for any questions.

Praveen

I too agree with Pravin. The legalisation of Marriage certificate (in case of child birth certificate also) is a mandatory document for swiss dependent processing. We got our dependent processed in 3 months time out of which 1 month was wasted by myself in providing the documents. So if your documents are all perfect, it takes 6 -8 weeks to get dependent.

Re: Dependent Permit: waiting more than 8 months

Thanks to both,
This was the normal answer I got from many. I got the confirmation from Swiss embassy, Mumbai that they have all necessary documents with necessary approvals.

So I'm just curious to know if some one have any idea about the delay.
