90 days stay in Switzerland

Hi, understand the maximum tourist stay for an individual is 90 days. If one is to stay longer than 90 days, will it help that he/she goes out of Switzerland border, maybe to the UK/Russia (the non EU countries) to get a stamp out and enter Swiss land again?

Re: 90 days stay in Switzerland

Thanks for your reply Dack!
Was initially thinking of the EU countries as they'll be nearer, but dont think they'll stamp out the passports! Guess UK is the next nearer option for my bro!

Nice meeting you here

Cheers!

As far as I know you are allowed to stay in the Schengen area, including Switzerland, for 90 days in a 6 months period, so no popping over to the UK or Russia will make no difference, unless you stay there for 3 months that is.

Jim
i checked this the other day by phone with the immigration dept in bern. you can only stay for 90 days max in any 180 day period so you definitely cannot pop out anywhere and come back in if it is within this 180 day period which starts from the day that you first enter CH.

Re: 90 days stay in Switzerland

Jean, do a search on this forum. There have been similar topics discussed in the past. In essence, you can stay for a maximum of 90 days in the last 180 days period. Hence, if you exhaust 90 days in one stretch, then you cannot re-enter before another 90 days outside schengen area.

Re: 90 days stay in Switzerland

I believe the UK while part of the EU is non Schengen so when you leave to go to the UK, you do leave the Schengen zone.
