Re: Who can beat me? On my 4th L-Permit

Oh wow!!! 5 Ls - what was the duration on each one? did you have a limited contract all those 3 years? and what canton are you in?

I am interested cuz I also got an L... after having a B for 4years (well at the time I was studying on a B - now working on an L) hoping and waiting for a B though

Wow, let's see if you can upgrade from an L Permit to a C Permit (or even Swiss Citizenship), should theoretically be possible!

Re: Who can beat me? On my 4th L-Permit

I'm currently on my 6th! The duration of my contracts have been:

2006/7: 13 months
2008: 5 m + 7 m
2009: 12 m
2010: 12 m
2011: 6 m

If I get another renewal, I expect that will also be a 6 month L . . . the one after that should be a C.

Re: Who can beat me? On my 4th L-Permit

Aren't EU passport holders on contracts greater than 365 days entitled to a B permit? That's how we changed from our second L Permit. Hubby asked for a slightly longer contract when renewing (13 months) and I asked to change to a B Permit since I couldn't get work on an L that stated I was accompanying my husband without work (i'm non EU). Found myself a job close to home in 6 days after I had my B permit At first I was told that 13 Months wasn't a long enough contract, but I had a print out the website with me.

Officially, yes. In fact it's 12 months or more, so anyone with a 12 month contract can apply for a B.

In practice however I expect many fall foul of the quota system or (more likely) officials who are stuck in the past.

We are on our third (hasn't been three years yet). Because I am non-EU and the length of my first expat contract was 2yrs we got a permit which had to be renewed annually. My friend who had a three year contract was able to get one for the duration.

Now we are staying & I will have a contract with no fixed term so company is applying for a B (& I am told that will allow my (also non EU) spouse to work).

The annual renewal is a bit of a hassle - but not too bad (of course company does most of the work).

Re: Who can beat me? On my 4th L-Permit

EU-citizen with permanent contract means that L permit is due to someone's lazyness, and my guess is that it's not the permit holder's.

I had to kick my employer in the *** to get my L changed into B with the original date and not the delayed date. It worked but I had to bugg my employer three times a week, I even wrote it down as part of my time table as "Bewilligungszirkus" in my planner.

Why? As an EU citizen the employer has nothing to do with it.

Exactly. EU's need to march their own butt's down to migraciones.

Is anybody of you guys who had L permit more than 3 times had an unlimited contract or all L issues were when the one contract finished and a new one began?

My employer applied for my permit, I didn't do it. If they were wrong, then tell the Ausländeramt, they didn't mind. Let's say they worked for me on that one. Call me prima donna, I don't mind.

I wish all L-holders good luck with the process, EU or non-EU, it is possible to put strange situations straight... sometimes.
