thought to check if anyone encountered such a scenario:

A NON-EU L-type work permit expired and had applied for extension some time back. Is there some kind of a limit on period of stay allowed while work permit is getting renewed. someone told me that a person can stay for maximum of only 3months, while work permit is getting renewed.

I mean lets say work permit expired on 31st March 2010, work pemit extension was applied well before that date and if BFM (Federal office for Immigration) make no decision, the person has to leave country on or before 30th June 2010 ?

The person has to leave country only if and after the extension is denied and they are told to leave by the authorities.
