Is it possible to rent an appartment on a 3 months working contract ?

Hello,

Does anyone know if it is possible to rent an appartment with a 3 months working contract (L permit - EU citizen) ?

Any info would be much appreciated.

Thanks

There's a few serviced apartments in Zurich that are available on a monthly basis - maybe there's something similar in Fribourg.

...and ruin it for the rest of the bona-fide foreigners who are genuinely here for longer term and struggling to find accomodation?

Nice.

OP, you can check EF's advert section. There are usually flatshare ads posted rather frequently. Alternatively, check out business apartments or www.ums.ch

Hi, What I did was use

http://www.cityappartements.ch
(the ones of Friesstrasse Oerlikon are pretty noisy - traffic & trains & things getting out of hand fri/sat nights with the gentlemen who frequent the restaurants, its not a swiss neighbourhood more of a slice of eastern european / Turkish / Russian life i'm not too noise sensitive about these things though)

http://www.apartments-swiss-star.ch
(the top floor apartment on Universitatstrasse was very nice, see above for what its like in their Friesstrasse properties)

Pretty expensive but everything is included, fully furnished + full kitchen stuff + weekly cleaning. Its expensive though. Dogs allowed.

oops..
You are in Fribourg. Ignore my post. I'm pretty sure cityapartments and citystar don't have flats in Fribourg.

What a load of bollocks. I dont care if you've been here for 5 or 15 years.

Its difficult for first timers ANYWHERE but accomodation for 3 months isnt that hard to find. There are loads of temporary accomodation available which is what she should be looking for as 3 months is just too short a time to be getting your own furniture etc.

On the contrary, its the longer term accomodation where you have to fight tooth and nail for. Advising her to tell fibs to landlords, in your words "getting around the Swiss system" doesnt pave the way positively for future expats - at least in that landlord's eyes. What are the possibilities that she might come back posting on the forum in 3 months time with a "Help, do I need to pay for the rest of my rental contract" just because some idiot told her to tell a fib.

Its irresponsible and selfish behaviour and there are other ways to "get around the system", like flat sharing. One thing I definitely do agree with you though, you cant help but get crap information on here sometimes.

Now groan away, petty little thing.

Why dont you try hotel apartments (studio)? They are not that expensive. It cost like 1000-1300 a month. There you do not need much hassles. For nor apartment, you will have to produce an property insurance, clean records from Betreibungsamt (Debt/ default recovery office) and atleast 2 months of advance payment.

Thank you everyone for your messages and info.

After a few phone calls, it looks like it is possible as long as either your employer or a friend or a member of the family agrees to be your guarantor.

Indeed, you need to provide Household / Liability insurance, Attestation office des failles et poursuites, earn more than a third of the rent, etc....

Have a nice weekend !
