Re: Facilitated Naturalisation - Documents and process

Hi Guys,

Didn't want to start a new thread for this small question.

For those of you that have recently gone through FN, I am currently filling the form in, or trying to. It gives me two short lines for "Aufenthalte im Ausland" and asks for "Wohnort" and "Dauer (jeweils von wann bis wann).

Please tell me they do not want the info of every address that I have ever lived in in the UK sine I was born, and the dates, because I have not got an F-ing clue!!! And there definitely is not enough space on the form.

What did you guys put?

I can't say for FN as I have not done it but for the AVS pension they wanted details of every place lived at. Hubby had lived in loads of places, some of them for very short periods, and didn't have a clue so we just made a list with approximate dates etc. and some places were probably left out due to being forgotten or very short but we made sure there were no gaps. We typed the list on a seperate piece of paper and sent that with the form.

What a nightmare. From my mid-teens I was flitting between my separated parents houses, who moved several times. I had several stints living in shared houses with friends, in late teens early twenties, then back to parents. No idea of the dates, or where I was on the electoral role. Add to that, the times I was bumming around as a tourist, without an official home

Think I'll just have to put down various parents addresses, and hope they don't try to check the electoral role records. I guess the lack of "sign-in" system in the UK may save me.

They will probably refuse me citizenship, as a good Swiss person, lives in one place their whole life..... that or my apartment is way off Swiss Housewife cleanliness standards!

Re: Facilitated Naturalisation - Documents and process

Edited after re-reading IM's post -

Just put the place and the dates. In my case it was USA and the years I lived there. Which for me meant the month and year of my birth until the month and year I moved to Switzerland. Nothing further was ever requested. I didn't even put cities or states. HTH

I think you'll be fine for the application. You might want to brush up on cities and rough dates for the interview, though.

When I had the in-person interview I had to tell my life story, so at that point I named the cities and the years I lived in them. In some cases I had to give clarifying detail, such as city X was where I went to college but city Y was where I lived.

Good luck, you'll be fine!

It sounds like they have just paused it instead of outright rejecting, so that's good news. I don't know the procedure, but if the letter says she needs to write them in 30 days to keep the process going then that's what she needs to do. Does the letter specify what they expect her to write?
