Entry visa allows travel in Schengen before registration? Urgent!

Hi all the experts here,

With the single entry Visa to Switzerland ( with Work permit ) . If I need to travel to France before registrating in the local authorities. Is it possible?

I know they give at most 14 days for registrating after arrival. But with the single entry Visa can I still travel to France anyways?

Thanks!!

Single entry visa isn't just a clever name....it is what it says.....

When you enter the first time, it will be stamped and you will be refused entry if you leave and try to get back in.

Thats the official answer and I know because it happened to my partner (in error actually)

Depending how desperate you are, you can risk it as France and Switzerland are both part of Schengen, you MAY be fortunate and not have your passport checked on re-entering. But I wouldn't risk it as the penalties will be severe

Sorry

Is your question....."If I leave Switzerland, have I left Switzerland?"....

If so, YES

It isn't legal, no. You are taking a big risk if you try. My partner doesn't look Swiss and the border police at the airport asked to check her passport, and she had the threat of not being able to re-enter.

(She was only allowed back in because alongside her single entry visa she had a Spanish issued 6 month Schengen visa which the border guard didn't see. He reported her to the authorities and the airline called and said she wasn't allowed to board the flight back)

If I were you, I wouldn't do it

Ok,
When I register in the local authorities upon arrival. I can apply for a temporary Visa that allows to travel within schengen area when my residence permit is being under processed. And it costs some money.

How long can I get the temporary Visa? Can i get it on the spot?

You can get a temporary visa on ths spot in Zurich migrationsamt after registration if this is where your canton is. It costs 90 swiss francs if you are not married to a swiss national.
