EU8 work permit Geneva (Application Processing Times)

Hi all,

does anyone know how long it will take Service Étrangers et Confédérés in Geneva to issue the work permit for EU8. My employer met all requirements for requesting work permit for me more than 2 months ago (it finished the 2 months period for offering the position to local or EU17/EFTA candidates). On their website they described that it could take 2-3 weeks. At the moment it is around 9 weeks waiting.

Is there anything my employer can do? Can I personally call them and ask for status? Or it is just simply waiting time till their decision?

What will happen if my 3 months residence permit will end. I know that I can apply for another 3 months, but what will happen then?

Thank you for all relevant answers.

Basically it can take forever I'd say, just go to the Commune and ask the status of it.

Uhm. Well, ours took like 2 weeks to get ready. But I guess that was because the HR of my husband's employer kept harassing them. I'd advise that you do the same.

I've heard similar stories and my guess is that any time you call them your case gets a push. =) Let your HR loose on them.
