Hello all!

I am an American getting married to a Swiss (here in Switzerland) and as my tourist visa is running out, I need to go back to America (well, I need to get out of Schengen at least) and apply for my "intent to marry a swiss" at a Swiss consulate.

I am curious if anyone can tell me how long they have experienced waiting for this visa (as an American in America).

(btw, yes, I am good friends with Google and have read all the government websites and the other threads here about this "wedding preparation visa/intent to marry visa", etc, but in my sifting have not found the exact answer to my question, nor could the government people here in Switzerland answer this question...so thus a new thread.)

Thanks to anyone with any tips and info. I'm hoping to be able to come back before I would be able to anyway on my next tourist visa.

It really depends on many factors (which canton is your wife-to-be living in/authorities processing time) and whether there will be some hurdles or not depending on your situation but if you're pompt in providing all necessary documents at US consulate and your fiancée at Swiss 'office de la population' and 'office de l'état civil', 3 months is a good average.
