| | Switzerland Vs UK ( Tier 1 General permit Vs Restricted B permit)
HI
I don't know where to post this message , main thing related to permit and also related place (swiss or Uk) so I posted in both sections
Question is :
Me and my Husband working in Swiss from last 3 years on restrcited B permit, as there is no possibility to change job on restricted B permit, We are planing to apply for UK tier 1 (HSMP) general visa and relocate to UK,
I would like to know pros and cons before we actually do this from well Expericend EF members.
From our side , we feel following main -ve on Switzerland
- Language problem
- Permit restrcition problem( to change job )
-integration

I have to agree with porsch: three years in Switzerland without learning the language isn't anyone's fault but your own.
On the +ve side for the UK, there is a bigger Indian community and IMO better restaurants in England than in Switzerland. But on the -ve side, from anecdotal evidence, the economy isn't as strong in England as over here.
I'd rather be non-integrated with the Swiss and have them behave courteously with me (as my experience has been) than be integrated in the UK and be worried about chavs and yobs causing me harm/worry.

Integration required language for which made some attempts to learn but due to unexpected incidents we r unable to learn language. Also we work for international companies where English is the communication language. My main query is life style and Job market and safety ok in UK when compared to Switzerland. U spoke abt integration and language but not abt restricted permit

A restricted permit isn't as good as a non restricted permit. What more do you want to know?
Life style. If you like a more home (as in Indian) lifestyle then the UK is better.
Job Market. It depends on your job area I'd imagine?

Hi All,
Just came across an interesting satement: | Quote: | | | | Also, it is possible to apply for work permission in some other countries of
the Schengen Area with the Latvian Resident Permit, for example, Switzerland: http://www.eda.admin.ch/eda/en/home/...nf/visltu.html
It is also possible (usually after 18 months in Latvia) to apply to other countries of the EU for living and work permission, effectively exchanging your Latvian Residence Permit and work permission for that of another country. These applications are handled on a case-by-case basis and according to the immigration laws of the individual country. | | | | | Is it just another fraud or there's something indeed about exchanging permits across EU?
How is that related to the SUBJ? That's how: I am non-EU, currently on Tier 1 General in the UK and would be happy to come back to Switzerland on a B permit, so if the exchange possibility stated above exists it would be a fantastic option for me.

-integration | | | | | Hardly needs thinking about, there is large Indian communities in UK and is quite excepted. Also if you choose not to integrate in the UK that is also not a problem. Lots of other nationalities choose to settle there and not integrate and it seems to be tolerated.

-integration | | | | | Language and Integration problem is something only you yourselves can solve. What type of work contract do you have in Switzerland? Restricted B Permits can be upgraded to Open B Permits at some point, they are not necessarily restricted forever.
I personally would not move to the UK; economy there ain't doing that good, the fiscal situation isn't healthy and the £ won't buy you much these days compared to the CHF.
