Vet in Baar

Just recently moved to the Baar area. Does anyone know of a good vet who also provides a boarding service (i.e. Kitty Motel)?

Re: Vet in Baar

I use this one just outside Baar:

http://www.dossenbach.ch/cms/ Very happy with them.

Not sure about the Cats situation though

This may help for the cat boarding

Re: Vet in Baar

Not in Baar, and definitely no boarding - but nonetheless an area resource you should know about:

http://www.spezialistenklinik.ch/

As the name says, a specialist clinic covering various disciplines, with full 24 hour emergency service, as well as an oncology center. This is my 'ER' of choice, and my primary vet often refers me here for more complex cases, or cases needing specialized diagnostic testing. In Hünenberg, so not too far away from Baar.

I second this animal clinic. They are a big team, very friendly and approachable and all the vets speak English (they understand we feel unsure about speaking in German when we're concerned about our animals).

Our dog has been going here since she was a wee pup. She thinks it's a party place 'coz she meets so many animals there and her vet-of-the-moment would give her a treat while giving her an injection so she doesn't feel anything but pleasure. She was also spayed there and she came home wearing a post-surgery bodysuit and no stitches (some biological glue was used to seal the incision instead!).

There's a cat house (pardon the expression) in Birmensdorf but that's a good 15 to 20 minutes away from Baar.

Hah! I love the bodysuit. But the first thing it made me think of was a doggy-version of this:

Re: Vet in Baar

Again, many thanks for all the input. I just moved to the Baar area from another canton. Want to develop a relationship with a vet here.

Why dont you go to:

Kleintierklinik http://www.kleintierpraxisdrfretz.ch/fretz.html for me this is the best Vet in the Kanton Zug.

FYI, this practice partners with the Spezialistenklinik - so you have the advantage of not only Dr. Fretz (a very nice, very knowledgeable man) and his colleagues, but also access to the range of specialist care should the needs arise.

Re: Vet in Baar

We go to Luzia Steiner, near the Baar train station. She is superb, but I don't know about the boarding situation, you can ask her. Our cat disappeared once and Dr Steiner phoned to say she saw her at a farm in our area. I was impressed that she recognised the cat and went to the trouble of phoning us. She really cares about the animals and if she feels they don't need expensive treatment or medication, she says so.
