Re: Pet Sitting Network

I don't own a pet (hopefully will do again in a year's time) but I absolutely love cats, so, depending on your appartment being located within the centre of Zurich/towards Oerlikon and easily reachable by public transport, I'd be happy to look after your moggie/s if I am not already otherwise engaged. Since I live in a shared apartment, it's nice to have somewhere "to yourself", sit on a sofa with a good book and some tea. Depending on how noisy/crazy my flatmates are being, the opportunity to stay overnight would also be appreciated. I already look after someone's cats regularly and they seem to like me well enough, plus my sister is a trained vet's assistant so I have someone I can call IF something is out of the ordinary.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hi All!

I have already posted on here about the kind of dog we have, however this time I am posting because I am suddenly in need of someone to care for/board Oscar (our lab) while we are back in the states!

*I had a different plan in place prior to this post, however it has fallen through so I will admit that now I am scrambling a bit because we are getting down to the wire for when we are supposed to leave!!

I have considered flying Oscar back to the states with us, however he has already endured a fair amount of air transportation . . and since it's only for 2 weeks I don't want to put him through it again if I can help it!

So... the details:

We are booked to fly out of Switzerland on September 23rd, and fly back to Switzerland on October 5th (one wedding and one baby arrival to celebrate!)

1.5 year old yellow Labrador Retriever
Neutered
Gets along Fabulously with other dogs
Is still getting used to cats . . . is fascinated by them and Does try to play with them from time to time when he is around them.......

He is not possessive or aggressive. He LOVES to play fetch, follows commands very well, is fully housebroken, and gets along splendidly with children! (in fact he spends 4 days of every week with a 3 year old and 5 year old who say he's "my boy" in reference to themselves, and who he listens to quite well!)

He IS energetic, so either long walks, or a yard to romp around in, or Both is really crucial for him . . .

If regular walks aren't possible, that is definitely alright! He gets loads of energy out playing fetch and being able to romp around with other pups -- of ANY kind or size!!!

If Anyone thinks they might be able to give Oscar a place to stay for a short time, I would be absolutely Thrilled!!!!

Thank you for reading, and I'm looking forward to hearing any feedback!!!

Hi
Did this ever get off the ground??
Not sure what you mean but its been mentioned a few pages back that some people on this thread have already done successful swaps. I personally have pmed the closest dog owners to me, arranged for walks and know I have a couple of people whom I can call upon when there's an emergency / last minute trip.

At the end of the day, its really up to each individual to proactively PM the owners of the dogs / home that they think their pets will best fit in with and arrange for meet ups. Welcome by the way!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

I forgot to mention!!

If anyone thinks they might be able to help out with Oscar while we are back in the states, I would be more than thrilled to get together ahead of time as a little interview of sorts, to see if he would mesh with your dog(s) and you!!!

Thanks so much and hoping someone might be able to help!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Anyone up for watchin my dog?

from oct 8 till the 13th (if someone in Geneva till the 12th)
my other one canceled today.

He is a chihuahua that needs quit a bit of attention
House trained (but accidents rarely happen)
good with other dogs (atleast so far....) cats I do not know as he has never seen one before from up close

As he comes from a shelter I prefer not to leave him there as the stress might be a bit much..... .

Many thanks!

Dude, you might have better luck if you PM those members who've listed their details on this thread, that are nearest to you with home environments that you think will be suitable for Tank.

Good luck.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Stacey,

Our pleasure. It was nice to have a dog around again that we could play catch with and have off-lead in the green. Oscar is a fantastic, wonderfully trained dog!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

hi all
this is a great idea

unfortunately last time i did an exchange

i got a nasty letter from the renters AND the people lost my dog so beware

but i am willing to try again after an interview

my dog is a dackel mix with jack russel

ideal setting with another dog of any breed but a rotweiler or pitbull

whom she cant seem to stand and no cats

She is great with kids ( over 3 years old)

loves to hike, chase bike, has a lot of energy but can also sleep late

a social butterfly but very emotional , a drama queen at times

sweet funny ( a chip of the old block )

she is on youtube, under shellbee singing i love you

i need a sitter sometimes when we want to go to the movies

or when we go abroad ( not often) to the holy land by plane

so if you are up to the challenge please let me know

We are in Adliswil

Thank you

Re: Pet Sitting Network

This is an offer for the Christmas period - god knows how hard it is to find sitters then! I will be around this year and I am happy to help you look after your dog (sorry, no cats as I am extremely allergic). We'll have visitors from the 23rd onwards till the New Year but rest assured that your dog will be well taken care of. He/she will not be left at home but be brought along, with mine with our visitors to visit parts of Switzerland, as well as hikes over the Christmas period.

This is in exchange for a two-weeks period sometime in March / April (not confirmed yet) 2011 when I'll go on a waaay overdue trip back home.

I only ask that your dog be house-trained, (spayed for females) and there are no children in your family as my little one is not really fond of them.

PM me if you think there's a match and we can arrange meet-ups for the dogs to see if they get along.

If you're happy for Teckla to come over to Zürich, I'll be here and I'm happy after her.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Thanks GG!
Don't care in which city she will be spoiled, as long as I know she's with good people. I leave early morning 17th Dec (so I would need to bring her on the 16th) and return on 3rd Jan.

Re: Pet Sitting Network

need help for christmas holiday! original pet sitter fell through and we already booked our flights to the US from dec 21st-jan7th.

the tierheim for that long is just too expensive and we are desperately trying to figure out another solution. we have a 1 year old border collie who is neutered, housebroken, and very friendly to everyone and every dog.

we can return the favor at any time, just name it! we are located in the zurich area.

Hey summerrain!

That's a GREAT idea.
Me and my husband are thinking about having a cat, but we had this concern as well.
So, as soon as we have our pet, I'll let everyone knows about it's info.

Thanks!

Re: Pet Sitting Network

Hello EF's,

I live in Wollishofen and I would need some help with my two cats between 20th to 26th Dec (not fixed yet). I would appreciate if someone would be able to come to my place a few times to give wet food and some company or a bit of play. They are 2 females 11yo and 2yo.

I live 150 m away the train station and tram. I will arrange for someone else to clean their litter while I am away.

Many thanks and will be happy to return the favor anytime.

Cris
