If a MJ can love a rat then so can you all

Sweet!

I have a couple of questions. Assuming that i would like to adopt 2 rats:

1) Obviously they have to be the same sex. No rat babies thank you! Is it better to get males or females? They will be in the same cage so the less fighting the better. And who will be calmer? I mean who will be settled on my lap while im reading a magazine? Im guessing females.

2) Are they easy to take care off? Im used to hamsters who only need food, water and a clean cage and they are happy.

3) What size will they be when they are fully grown? What size of cage do they need. I have a pretty big hamster cage. Will it be enough? What does the cage need to have?

Cheers
Males are apparently a lot more laid back than females, females love to explore and are very nosey

Rats need to come out of the cage for at least an hour a day, they are pretty different to hamsters!

They need a decent size cage, where they can climb, rats love climbing. They have to have decent bedding, no pine or saw dust as it is not good for their lungs.

I would love to take them off your hands but wouldn't be fair as don't have enough time for them just now. Had a rescue pair of elderly gentlemen a few years ago, they were hilarious, used to have boxing matches over strawberries

For those more doubting people, they do make great pets, very social and love to play.
