Ok, I did the whole family. So hubby, me, daughter and babish have all our fingers and toes crossed. Same for the cat (and she has 5 fingers by paw)
I hope it will be enough!
Good luck!

Well, the morning didn't get off to the best of starts. I called the vet's practice on Friday to ask whether I could feed the cat this morning or not. They told me that it was fine to feed her.
(Yes, you can probably see where this is going...)
Met the vet this morning and she did a preliminary exam and suggested we go ahead with the surgery. She asked whether the cat had eaten -- and sure enough -- said that I shouldn't have given her any food this morning.
The cat was already very stressed about the vet visit (cried from the moment she crossed the threshold at our house until the moment she was on the vet's table). I explained that I was reluctant to have to bring her back a second time unless it was absolutely necessary.
The vet was very understanding, and they've agreed to do the surgery this afternoon instead, giving her a chance to digest her breakfast. They'll remove the lump in any case and send it off to the lab for a biopsy.
As an added bonus, she'll get her teeth cleaned at the same time. So hopefully she'll be home tonight with a few stitches and a gleaming smile. I know that I'll be happier when she's back home again.

Thanks to all my fellow EF-friends (two-legged as well as four-legged) who sent their good wishes today. The message must have got through, because the procedure was a success. We still need to wait a few weeks to get results from the bloodwork and biopsy. Until then we'll keep crossing whatever it is that we cross in hopes that the lump turns out to be benign.
The staff at the vet were great, tooks lots of time with me, and the final bill for everything was a very reasonable CHF400-.
She's back home now, stumbling around a little bit as the last of the anaethesia wears off. We keep putting her into her bed, but she keeps trying to have a wander around. A few stitches in her chin, but she'll be back to her old self very soon. Settling into her basket, looking a little unkempt and sorry for herself... | The following 22 users would like to thank Village Idiot for this useful post: | Cris1973, evilshell, grumpygrapefruit, Helm, herc82, jacek, Kittster, maudthecat, Meisie, meloncollie, mmmilk, Mrs. Doolittle, Mud, MusicChick, Nil, NSchulzi, oscarsmum, Snowbear, tomcat, zymogen |

So glad the surgery went well, and - most importantly - that she is back home with you where she belongs.
Here's hoping for good results from the biopsy and bloodwork.
(I see your beautiful girl has the 'Woe is me' look down pat. They do like to twist us around their little paws and make us feel guilty, don't they? )
Hope her recovery is an easy one.

Right now, it's the 'three-sheets-to-the-wind' look -- wild eyes not really focusing, stumbling about and losing her balance. Kind of like me after a night on the town. |

We have also had to wait for lab results, I have lost count how many times, but the waiting period is tough. Fortunately each time for us the result has been positive and hoping the same for your kitty. Hope she recovers quickly.

Karma's a bitch. Turns out my mother's cat, who had half of her tongue removed three weeks ago because of a tumor, had to be put down today.

Tough day at Casa Idiot... | | | | | I don't think that is Karma, but a very, very unfortunate coincidence, in terms of symptoms. However, that does not mean that the outcome for your precious pet will be the same. Condolences to your mother and we are still hoping for the best for you and yours.
