Hi

Thanks for your reply. Pls let us know name of town so that we can see how long the commute would be. I would be at home and I speak english so it has advantages to be near Zurich ( an expat community). My husband would commute to Winterthur and it all depends on how long the commute would be. We still might be interested. Please could you send details

Thanks

Cathryn
Make sure you mention that you are staying at home. One apartment I know of will only allow a dog if one person is at home.

Re: Accommodation for family with dog

We have a large dog and have been able to find a brand new flat with the dog in mind. When we looked on homegate, I didn't just look at the ones that said they allowed dogs. When I called and asked all of them were willing to take the pet if we got a pet insurance. I think your biggest factor is the price, not sure what you can find on that price range (but then again we have 3 kids, so probably needed a much bigger place)

We have 3 labs and got the only place we applied for, so it's perfectly straightforward to get a place that accepts dogs... you just have to be realistic in your expectations. If you want a popular or central place expect to be dis-appointed, as those places will rent easily enough, search further a field and there are many gems and great properties.

For the guy that was on the fence for 3-5 minute...dude

Homegate allows your to add the pet filter to your searches, and the rest has already been covered in depth.

Yes, Schindellegi is super quiet - it's a farming community in transition to a Zürich bedroom suburb. There isn't much except the Post, a Spar and Volg, a good bakery, an excellent butcher, a fairly decent pizza place and a nice flower shop. And the Rossberg and the Etzel. And extremely low taxes. But what more does one need?

Schindellegi is on a train line, giving you easy access to Zürich (and Einsiedeln and Rapperswil), as well as easy access to the expressway. Feusisberg, while the more 'posh' (if one can use that term for any town in the Congo... ) of the two towns, is not on the train - making two cars pretty much a necessity.

My husband's commute is only 30 minutes (at silly o'clock in the morning.)

---

The great thing about Schindellegi is that my three very visible mutts are nuttier than fruitcakes. Yours will look like angels in comparison, automatically endearing you to the townsfolk.

Good luck with your move.

ETA:

There is also a very good Hundeschule at the Sportsplatz Erlenmoos above Wollerau, equidistant from Schindellegi and Wollerau Dorf. Wherever you end up, do consider taking some classes - you'll find training groups all over. Even the most experienced owner needs to learn what Swiss society expects of our canine friends, and classes such as Familienhund or a dog sports group are a good way to do so.

My wife wants to be under 30min to Zurich, and Wollerau is right off the highway so its about 26-28min depending on the location.

I will expand my search, the other places you mentioned are about 31-35min it wouldnt be that bad.

Schindellegii i heard is super quiet...But i will check.. Its amazing how taxes are here, i jsut dont want to struggle with balancing my funds.

Ok, sorry to be honest: I am living in Wollerau and currently look for someone to take over my flat... while it fits your bill in being ground floor and all that is it twice your budget - and that's a normal market price here.

While it is probably the most expensive village - thanks to the low tax and being the nearest of the tax efficient ones to Zurich... it will be very hard for you to find something for this budget that you'll like anywhere in my area.

In short: Make the full cost calculation and calculate rents vs. tax rates...
1. if your income is high enough, raise your budget.
2. if your potential tax savings are not high enough to raise the budget, look into another direction from Zurich. You can probably find something in your budget in Aargau, say for example Brugg.

Re: Accommodation for family with dog

I live in Winterthur and the block where we live allows pets, we have two cats and at least one of our neighbours has a dog.

There is a park right next door where dogs are allowed (on a leash I think) also, I was looking on Homegate yesterday and I'm pretty sure I saw at least one apartment here that was available.

PM me and I'll give you the details.

Re: Accommodation for family with dog

I have a labrador and live in a ground floor apartment. The garden is not fenced. I fixed a retractable line to the roof of the patio which allows my mutt a 9m arc for him to move around and we can leave him outside unattended. Its cheaper than a fence which would most likely not be allowed anyway.
