Interesting! That must be why wasps are often getting in my face and flying right in front of my eyes... because of my glasses. I had no idea. I know your post that I quoted is from 2015, but thank you!
Sbrinz deceased about two years ago. But he was a helpful member and I'm sure he would be pleased you appreciated his info.

Re: Wasps!

Both me and the missus were stung at the pool last week. Haven't been stung since I was a kid. Missus has never been stung before and had a nasty allergic reaction. Luckily the baby escaped unharmed.

Re: Wasps!

Wasps are Pollinators. A right pain, but they do help pollinate our flowers.

And they love beer. They come to lick it off my lips! Nothing worse than a drunk wasp!

Wife got a pretty strong reaction to one as well. I stepped on one barefoot to get stung recently myself and I had forgotten the sensation - not terrible but acute pain for several hours. I assumed they were attracted to fruits but never realized meats can attract them too

Of course, I also got stung/bitten by a horse fly recently too and I'd prefer wasp to that - 5 days of pain/irritation

.....Edit add: Always bat a wasp AWAY from your face!
A friend hit one hard down on his chest and I was in shock actually. But the wasp was dead and he was not stung.

Do not do this at home, children.
