Well, all the resources we need to help care for our dog here in Bern seem to be falling into place, with the exception of one: A dog groomer.

Does anyone have any recommendations? Our dog is a shepherd mix with long hair. I would like for her to be cut quite short without being shaved. A lot of groomers just want to shave her down and call it a day, but I've had a hard time finding a really good 'cutter'. We had one in Lorrach when we lived in Basel but Bern has been slim pickin's

are you in Bern or in Basel?

I've tried 3 different groomers in Basel for my Schnauzer and they all have one thing in common. None of them like to clean ears or cut nails. I don't know if it's a Swiss thing or if they think that's something vets should be doing or if they're just lazy but it's driving me nuts and it's why I keep looking. If you're in Basel as your location indicates I can give you the name of two places I would go back to for basic grooming and a good doggie haircut, but I'm still not 100% satisfied for reasons indicated.

They have a hundesalon as part of the business. It is about 80CHF for a bath/grooming, maybe more for a haircut. My dog is a little nervous, but they're very nice to her and she gets a bath, nails, ears done.

They're located right off the A6, Rubigen exit (south of Bern).
