Hello
My husband and I just moved to Zurich this week, with our boxer. He is well trained, but has a lot of energy and is used to running off leash for at least an hour a day. We are having the hardest time trying to find a place where we can bring him so that he can run around off leash.
Our temporary housing is in zone 9. If anyone has any suggestions of where we can take him, it would be GREATLY appreciated.

Does he like to swim? If so, we used to take our labrador to the Limmat every day, in place of chasing a tennis ball off leash. We avoided trails and fields around Zurich because of the tick problem, so the river was a perfect solution.

By Sihlcity there is a large forest and open space where you can take your dog off leash. Including a really nice river for wading in. There is even a little Kiosk where dog owners stop for a drink while their dogs make friends.

we go up to the airport , just north of the runways. There is a vast area you can walk and let him off the lead. As a bonus there are 2 coffee huts where you can stop off !!

Hi Lennon and Melinda! Welcome to Zürich! We used to live near you until we moved out of the city.

When we were in the city, we loved going for off-leash walks behind Sihlcity. Lots of dogs and lots of friends. Or the Kafferberg forest up on the ETH is a great trail. You can walk through the forest or just play in the open fields. Look out for ticks, we use the Scalibor collar which can be bought easily from any vet and it has proven effective.
