Where to find styptic powder?

At the moment my kitchen looks like a scene from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre - and I've run out of my precious supply of US-sourced styptic powder. (German: Blutstillende Pulver, septische Pulver)

I've been to the (human) Notfall Apotheke, but they only have Blutstillende Watte, a thread/fiber-like product - which doesn't work so well for doggie claws. I'd like to find a local source for the powder form.

I've not found it on any of the usual online pet supply websites, so before I go traisping hither and yon tomorrow, do any of you know of a store that regularly carries it?

Many Thanks.

In times like this, one has to get resourceful. You can try flour, cornstarch, or a wet tea bag. In all cases do not apply too much pressure.
Best of luck.

Re: Where to find styptic powder?

Thanks Mrs D.

Cornstarch slowed the blood flow long enough to allow me to get the the fiber-y Blutstillende Watte and bandages in place.

So now a box of Maizena has been added to my first-aid kit.

The muttley crew also thank you, muchly.
