Kitten

Hello,

Any suggestions as to where i can purchase a kitten for WAY less than 500chf? I have an african grey parrot already habituated to cats, however, a full grown cat not habituated to birds would not work, otherwise i would consider it. Thanks. :)

Ask a Local Farmer my Friends got Kittens for free from them or an Animal Home ;)

Yup, was going to suggest farmer as well... My husbands parents have a ton of kittens they can't get rid of :) (In Toggenburg)

Contact your cantonal animal refuge centre to see if they have any kittens needing a home. There will be some kind of charge, but I doubt it will be anywhere near CHF500.

Please check animal shelters! They have way too many animals desperately in need of a new home. And please don't base your choice on the price of the cat - it can turn out the price is only peanuts compared to the future costs.

I responded to your question in the Introductions subforum.

Do follow Glowjupiter's suggestion and check out the animal shelters.

The Swiss-wide database of homeless animals can be found here:

http://www.tierdatenbank.ch/cms/tier...unschtier.html

Searchable by canton, age, and various other characteristics. Although I would urge you not to limit your search by geography - Switzerland is such a small place, a few hours' drive to meet your new friend is worth the next decade or so of companionship.

Also, check out the Geneva SPA, which doesn't seem to post much on the national database:
http://www.sgpa.ch

Good luck with your search - and all the best with your new feline friend(s).

(And if I might make a special plea - would you consider an older cat? Older animals have so much love to give, and there are so many in need of homes.)
