Exspot for dogs

Has anyone found a good price for purchasing this anti flea and tick treatment? We are in Switzerland for a month or so and need some for the dog. Can it be purchased without prescription via the Internet?

Re: Exspot for dogs

I buy it in Hungary, ex spot is OTC there.
I have just paid 20 CHF for 6x1 ml Ex spot. 1 ml is good for a dog under 15 kg. As I am currently here I just pick it up from their store.

http://ebcicaweb.hu/ (I am sorry, it is only in Hungarian ).

They deliver to abroad as well but I could not see a foreign speaking homepage of theirs.

There is an other one here: http://www.equus.hu (they also have Drontal which was presciption drug up to now, so I don't have to visit the vet every 3 months.....).
If you can't find any better, you may write to them.

I ordered from both to a Hungarian address, everything was ok.

Re: Exspot for dogs

Otherwise, a local equivalent is Frontline. You can find it in Sunstore pharmacies, but you have 3 doses in a box and the price is quite prohibitive...

Re: Exspot for dogs

I get mine from the vet - Ex=Spot, Frontline, Program, or Prac-Tic depending on the dog - the price is ca. CHF 35 for a package of three. This is the 10-20kg weight range, IIRC the price varies slightly for smaller or larger dogs.

There are OTC products that can be purchased from pet stores, but the active ingredient is different, and I have not been happy with the result with my dogs. I prefer the products I get from the vet.

If you are considering an OTC product, look at Zooplus in Germany - prices are a bit better.

But do be aware that ticks are quite bad this year, and if you are planning to be in high-risk areas you really do want optimal protection for your pet.

Re: Exspot for dogs

it looks like the OP is going to live in 1844 Villeneuve, Vaud

You can drive to Evian for your weekly shopping, west of the town is a shopping center, and buy some anti-tick ampoules from the pharmacy there,
http://maps.google.ch/maps/ search for "hypermarché, Evians-les-Bains, France "
(There are so many fakes on Internet, I cannot reccomend that idea).
