You are very lucky the dog owner is being very nice about this.

If a cat had came in my apartment, there is about a 99% chance it would not come back out. I mean, I would consider trying to stop the boy ripping it apart, but then, I wouldnt really mind either.

In fact, on second thoughts I would have to tell him to play with this toy on the balcony, jeez the mess.

The owners are cool because they are Swiss business owners, with logic thinking business brains, not nasty little jealous Muppet with too much time on their hand.

How does any of this make sense?

Swiss Business owners = cool. How?

Logic thinking brains- not sure where this comes into it

Little - i tend to be the tallest of the people I know to be fair

Jealous - of what? That you have cats? Or that your neighbour is nice about your cat?

Muppet - ok, I can take that one, on ocassions

Too much time on their hand? - is this a reference to the dead arm technique?

I have a life, I was just commenting on your thread and how your lucky your cat still has its.

It just occurred to me that your cat is probably on a vegan diet. Maybe it was hungry and actually trying to eat the little dog.

There is nothing "cool" about a neighbour's cat entering the house in the night through a dog flap and attacking the neighbour's dog while it was sleeping in the owner's bedroom.

I get it if the cat and dog got into a fight while they both were outside. But it sounds like your cat went looking for trouble.

Maybe the dog owner leaves their dog flap unlocked in case their dog needs to go out at night. They should have to lock it because of your cat?

Do you think it is acceptable for a cat to enter someone else's home?

We need Dexter Morgan on the case to investigate:
  • point of entry
  • the alleged crime scene
  • blood spatter from the injuries
  • evidence the alleged assailant was present
  • dispatch the assailant if it is a known repeat offender
What about dental records? Could do a bite match...

I cannot believe I'm going to say this but I don't think he meant to say it was cool the cat went inside their house and/or attacked the dog. He meant to say the owners had a cool/relaxed attitude about it. He has admitted cat's guilt and will pay for damages.

I do have to ask, and sorry if it was asked before but, how do they know it was your cat? I think I read somewhere the cat attacked the dog on their bedroom? So they saw him?

Re: Will this bring us problems ( cat attacked dog )

I`ve read thru this entire posting, and had some thoughts, but had to make sure, like Angela above, I`m also asking ........

......... Did they definitely see your cat? I ask that because a friend of mine also had her cat attacked in her house ......... thought it was a neighbors cat, but then one night she saw what it was - a Maarten!

So she had one of those "chip operated doors" fitted, no more problems.
Except then the cat and Maarten would have confrontations outdoors at night!

Yes, Maartens to attack domestic animals. Usually they are wary of the dog smell, but maybe a small toy dog is not something they`d be afraid of?

Ja, when I read that the dog`s ear had been mauled. Cats claw and scratch, ripping out fur. They don`t maul. A Maarten mauls, with those huge teeth! I`ve never seen a cat grab a body part of another animal and hang on. They scratch and jump away, and keep repeating that sort of action. Especially with a dog.

Re: Will this bring us problems ( cat attacked dog )

Can't really add to anything that's been said, but go along with the opinions

- this little dog has been provoking the cat
- cats generally aren't seen as controllable as dogs
- if they're being cool about it, nice gesture to offer to pay but not admitting liability

Love the pics of your cats, by the way; they do look like "don't mess with us" types
